Venturelli recommend for Group gymnasts as they are more slightly more rigid. However they FIG approved by weight and size, for Junior and Senior, Individual and Group Gymnasts - it's a matter of preference! 
 
Hoops are plain ready for tape to suit gymnast. Tape adds grip and strength to the hoop. Creates durabilty for risk and appratus difficulty elements.
